Construction Materials Additives

Best workability and rheology for your construction products

Tolsa manufactures a range of additives used in a wide variety of applications in the construction materials sector. Made from natural silicates, they provide improved rheology to cement, gypsum and resin-based systems. Tolsa products improve workability and application properties while avoiding sagging, slip-on rebound on vertical surfaces.

They can also be used in the stabilization of liquid admixtures and slurries, reducing settling and syneresis.

Gypsum / Plasters Additives

Tolsas admixtures improve the overall quality of plasters, especially those with pumpability, workability or sagging issues.

Our admixtures improve the overall quality of plasters, especially those with pumpability, workability or sagging issues. Thanks to their strong rheological properties, Tolsa’s products improve the workability of the systems to which they are incorporated, reducing the stickiness of the mixture, and providing excellent surface finish.

Benefits:

  • Improved workability.
  • Increased anti-sagging control.
  • Provide an excellent surface finish.

Mortars Additives

A product with good workability requires less application time, generating cost savings and assuring long-term performance.

Tolsa’s admixtures are highly pseudoplastic products with excellent rheological properties based on different clay minerals.

  • A product with good workability requires less application time, generating cost savings and assuring long-term performance. Tolsa’s admixtures are highly pseudoplastic products with excellent rheological properties based on different clay minerals. These characteristics enable a reduction of mortar viscosity, thus making application and trowelling easier.

  • Tolsa mortar additives series improve sagging and slip control, enhancing mortar workability properties in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) and External Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS).

  • This product line eliminates water bleeding and generates a homogeneous mix during pumping, application and setting.

  • Our admixtures provide cohesive properties to the filling mix, allowing good transportation of the aggregates while avoiding segregation during pumping operations. In addition, they improve the waterproofing characteristics of the mortar considerably at a low cost. Once dispersed in water, these admixtures will allow a fast physical consistency recovery of the mortar when injected in tunnels behind the concrete blocks.

  • Our sepiolite-based products can be used to transform liquid admixtures into solid compounds to avoid the caking-effect during storage.

Ready-to-use Joint Compounds

Tolsa’s unique clay products are the perfect solution to provide the right workability and sag characteristics for ready-to-use building materials.

The key role of our admixtures is to optimise the rheology of the organic thickeners to which they are incorporated, improving the workability of the paste while reducing trowel sticking and sagging effects on vertical surfaces. Our products are developed using the most appropriate mineral clay in each case to achieve our customers’ specific needs, allowing us to provide the rheology performance required for each application.

Benefits:

  • Improved workability.
  • Anti-sagging characteristics.
  • Homogeneity and consistency properties.
  • Excellent surface finishing.

Concrete Additives

The quality of fresh concrete is determined by the ease and homogeneity with which it can be mixed, transported, compacted, and finished.

Our product for concrete applications includes rheology admixtures and pozzolanic admixtures that improve the cohesion and strength development of concrete, reducing bleeding and segregation.

Tolsa offers a range of products to stabilise alkali-free settling accelerators, avoiding syneresis and sedimentation in the systems in which they are incorporated.

Additionally, the use of our additives reduces the rebound effect in shotcrete applications, therefore enabling us to build up thicker shotcrete layers in one single pass. Our products have been developed to replace micro powder silica, providing easier dosing, and avoiding dust generation in plants or job sites.

Benefits:

  • Improves workability, pumpability, and thixotropy
  • Avoids slipping and mortar sagging.
  • Reduces bleed and segregation during application.
  • Improves adherence to the substrate.
  • Improves texturing and surface finishing properties.
  • Increases resistance to sagging.
  • Reduces sedimentation and segregation during storage
  • Increases the resistance of dry pellets.
  • Promotes wet disintegration.
