Tolsa publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting progress in decarbonization, product circularity, and work with local communities

In 2025, Tolsa surpassed its 2040 decarbonization target of a 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scopes 1 and 2, 2019 baseline), achieving a 44% reduction. In the same year, CO₂ emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) decreased by 20% compared to the previous year. The amount of CO₂ avoided reached 8,726 tonnes, equivalent to taking more than 1,900 cars off the road.

One of the most significant advances has been recorded in Scope 1 emissions, which have decreased by 53% since 2019. This progress has been driven by investments in energy efficiency and process optimization, such as mineral drying. As a result of these improvements, energy consumption was reduced by a total of 37 GWh compared to the previous year.

In terms of health and safety, the 2025 results confirm a positive trend.

The total number of accidents decreased by more than 56.33%, accompanied by significant improvements in the main indicators: the frequency rate fell by 24.7% and the severity rate decreased by 4.12%. These results reflect the strengthening of the preventive culture, supported by concrete actions in training, awareness, and improvements in working conditions.

Boosting circular economy and eco-design

Sustainable innovation is the focus of this year’s chapter dedicated to success stories.

The company renewed its ISO 14006 eco-design certification and expanded its portfolio to a total of 10 eco-designed products, five of which were introduced this year. The report details the benefits for society and the environment of two products from the Adins range (Adins Protection and Adins Flame Retardancy) and a cat litter product (Sanicat Essential Oils).

Sustainable mining and biodiversity restoration

Tolsa maintained its commitment to best-certified practices in sustainable mining through the renewal of its certifications (UNE 22470, UNE 22480, and ISO 14001), both in Spain and Senegal.

In parallel, Tolsa presented the La Cierva restoration project in Spain, located within the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve. The proposal was developed through a collaboration between Tolsa and ADENEX (an environmental organization with in-depth knowledge of the territory), together with a specialized technical team in mining restoration and environmental permitting (CRN). This approach made it possible to integrate geomorphological, ecological, and operational feasibility criteria into a single intervention.

Positive impact on local communities

Throughout 2025, Tolsa strengthened its social license by investing more than €123,000 in social programs that directly contribute to the well-being of local communities. In 2025, sports sponsorships were introduced to support the integration of young people in Beni Chicker (Morocco) and Cabañas (Spain), as well as a new project to create recreational spaces in natural environments in Cinco Saltos (Argentina), currently under development.

In addition, Tolsa received the 2025 Fundación Minería y Vida Award in the category “Added value to society” for its contribution to cleanup efforts following the impact of the Valencia DANA, together with CEMEX, CSIC, and SGISE.

Tolsa’s Sustainability Report reflects its strategy of investing in projects aimed at competitive and sustainable growth. Its knowledge and expertise in mineral resources remain a key factor in improving essential everyday applications that will play a crucial role in the coming years. Its approach integrates sustainability as a strategic pillar, with the aim of building a positive, real, and lasting impact on people, communities, and the environment.
